//For Day 1
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "'All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.' (Psalm 86:9-10) Pray, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for His help to do your part to 'hasten the day'.";
//For Day 2
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Certeza Argentina is one of our overtly successful partnerships, a relationship with ACLS and SPCKA spanning over two decades. This year commenced with the visit to Australia of Certeza director, Beatriz Buono. Beatriz shared insights into effective ministry in tough economic situations, and the significance of Certeza's role in Christian publishing in the Spanishspeaking world. Pray that Beatriz might continue to lead the Certeza team with wisdom, creativity and courage.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "The Australian Christian Book of the Year Award (won last year by Simon Carey Holt's God Next Door) , Young Australian Christian Writer of the Year award (won in 2008 by Sarah Dunbar), and the Australian Theological Writers' Award (won by Graham Cole), are significant encouragements to Australian Christian writers and publishers. Please pray for all involved in administering these awards, and that the work of our writers and publishers will continue to help seekers to find Jesus and Christians to grow.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Books and Bookshops: We have lots of them in Australia! Please pray for Christians in countries who don't. Sometimes with your support, we can help. Pray too, for those who work in your nearest Christian bookstore, and those involved in writing, publishing, and distributing Christian literature. Pray that in every nation God will raise up robust, self-sufficient and innovative Christian publishers.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Cambodia: A vibrant body of indigenous Christian literature is essential to the maturity and strength of the local church. The availability of Christian literature in Khmer is still exceedingly limited, and there is little encouragement for local Christians to become published authors. Please pray that Cambodian Christians will find creative ways to foster a new 'reading culture' so that helpful material can be assimilated.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Chile: Pray for students at CEP (Centre for Pastoral Studies in Santiago, Diocese of Chile), and ask that their scarce resources will be expanded to meet the needs of those students from impoverished but growing church communities.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "DR Congo: Conditions are difficult! Please continue to pray for persistence and faithfulness for the pastors and students (many of whom are very poor) and for Bishop Masimango Katanda. Together with Australian missionaries Malcolm and Elizabeth Richards, teachers at the Berea Bible School, the Society is exploring ways of making theological texts available in Congolese Swahili.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "LetraViva is a network of 40 Latin American Christian publishers. This ministry is highly practical, professional and encouraging. Please pray for the LetraViva coordinator, Ian Darke, based in Costa Rica. Please pray especially for the effective functioning of the LetraViva despatch centre in Miami, an essential means of distribution run cooperatively by member publishers.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Deacons & Bishops: When new bishops and deacons are ordained, the Society celebrates the occasion by presenting them with a theological book gift on your behalf together with a letter alerting them to the nature of our work. Please pray that they will be faithful in building up Australians in their faith in Jesus Christ.";
//For Day 10
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Egypt: Pray for the strategic Alexandria School of Theology and its principal Dr Emad Azmi Mikhail. Pray for the successful launch and accreditation of the MA programme this year. Offering an MA degree requires additional qualified teaching staff and the expansion of library facilities. Please pray for the Australian lecturers; for their assimilation and effective acquisition of Arabic. Please pray for generous gifts so that we can provide $10,000 this year for new library books.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Filipino Seafarers: Tagalog-language editions of Just Grace and The Gift of God have been funded, in part, by SPCKA for distribution by Seafarer Mission workers. Please pray that they will be wisely placed into the hands of many of the half-million merchant seafarers from the Philippines who visit Australian ports each year. Pray that God will raise up from among these seafarers a movement of globe-trotting evangelists.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Sudanese Christians in Australia: We have been asked to assist in producing hymn books for one Dinka church. We are exploring how we might respond in a way which would serve Sudanese congregations throughout Australia. Please pray for creative wisdom as the Grants Committee pursues this issue.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Grants Committee members are selected for their experience and knowledge of mission and Christian literature needs in various parts of the world. Pray today for Michael Collie. As National Secretary he is responsible for providing the information on which the Grants Committee will base its decisions in relation to the many requests for assistance which we receive.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "India: Persecution of Christians in India is rising sharply. Pray for them today, and especially for the Christian booksellers and publishers of India. Please pray that we will receive sufficient support to fund a volume on the pastoral epistles by Dr Graham Simpson, for the new India Commentary on the New Testament to be published in Bangalore. Please pray too for Graham in his role as visiting lecturer at Union Biblical Seminary in Pune.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Kenya: This year we will assist with the production and printing of Bible studies for an evangelistic correspondence course. The material is prepared by local Christians in Kiwahili and is aimed at Muslims and non-Christians. Pray today for Rev Peter Ibui and his team as they engage people in public centres and distribute tracts.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Literacy & Translation: Sometimes we support work in locations which are too sensitive to publicly disclose. Work in such areas is often based on providing opportunities for people to encounter the Word of God in education and translation. Pray today that members of literacy teaching teams will use appropriate opportunities with integrity to share the good news of Jesus.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Local Publishing: Please continue to pray for our Publishing Committee as appropriate future publishing directions are discussed. A catalogue of our Australian Christian biographies and other titles can be found on our website.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Management: Pray today for Carol LePage who is responsible for the administration of our new Melbourne office. Thank God for the work of Jess Harris, Sue Crees and others who so ably served while our office was located in Adelaide. Pray too for the Management Committee as it meets regularly to support and assist the new office team.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Peru: Please pray for encouragement for Victor Arroyo and the team at Ediciones Puma. With modest resources they publish thoughtful books for pastors and lay leaders in Peru and, increasingly, throughout Latin America. ";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "National Council: Please pray today for our National Council whose members take time from their wider responsibilities, to guide the Society's work and support the work of our new National Secretary, Michael Collie. Pray also for those who serve on our Awards, Grants, Management and Publishing committees, as we seek to faithfully fulfil our purposes under God.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Nepal: Please continue to pray for the effective use of the library which we funded in 2006 as a means of outreach and education by Christians at the Anugraha Church in Dharan. Pray too for the Christians of this nation as they seek to be wise and faithful in an uncertain political environment.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Nigeria: Over 50 million Christians live in Nigeria and a similar number of Muslims. There are many areas of tension and much poverty. Please pray that the Society might find useful ways to help equip libraries in Bible and theological colleges which are working hard to prepare large numbers of people for pastoral and evangelistic work.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Nungalinya: Thank God for the Kriol-speaking students whose excitement at having the Bible in their language has been palpable. Pray that this enthusiasm will flow on to other Kriol speakers, as they read the Bible in their own tongue for the first time. Pray that God will raise up more people to go and help with translation and teaching.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Other Mission Societies: Support for Christian literature work is requested by people from a variety denominations and mission agencies such as CMS, BCA and ABM. Please Pray for these co-workers, and also for SPCK in London. Although our societies are now quite autonomous, a positive familial relationship continues. Pray that SPCK (UK), ISPCK (India) and other associated societies will be Christ-focussed in their work and purpose.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Pakistan: This large and powerful but unstable country is a haven for much religious and political extremism. It is also the home of a large number of Christians who as minority communities face grave risk of persecution. Please pray for them now. ZBI (Zarephath Bible Institute) is preparing pastors and scholars to serve in this difficult context. As the institute grows and standards of theological education rise, SPCKA has been asked to help build up library resources. Pray for Rev Steve Sonneman as he encourages students and pastors to acquire the habit of regular reading. Pray also that ZBI graduates will begin to address the dire need for good quality Christian books written in Urdu.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "China: Please pray for the successful publication in China of The Big Picture Story Bible by David Helm. The government censor has issued ISBNs which means that the book can be distributed to children and their parents through government, commercial and church bookstores throughout China. This wellillustrated children's book accurately interrelates the Old and New Testaments by explaining, for instance, how God's saving of the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt foreshadows our own salvation by Jesus from slavery to sin and his leading us to the Promised Land, Heaven. We have undertaken to contribute $20,000 to this project.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Philippines: We receive regular expressions of appreciation from final year students at St Andrews Theological Seminary in Manilla for awarding them a Bible commentary and concordance upon graduation. Please pray that they will learn to make good use of these tools in their ministry. Their personal resources are usually meagre indeed.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Solomon Islands: This year we plan to repeat last year's provision of a New Bible Commentary to incoming first year students at Bishop Patteson Theological College. They are genuinely impoverished; these books are the only ones some are likely to possess even after they graduate. Pray that they will be well instructed in using them effectively in current study and in future ministry.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Supporters of SPCKA: Sometimes tears flow in the office as we consider the humbling generosity of some of our supporters. Please thank God today for those who, like you, pray regularly for the work God has put in front of us. Thank you for being one of them! Pray that we, and those we assist, will be motivated and challenged to bring people to Christ and help them to grow to Christian maturity. Pray also for discernment and wisdom so that we will allocate generously given resources, effectively and efficiently.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Tanzania: The first 12 months of the new St John's University in Dodoma has been really exciting. Generous gifts from SPCKA supporters and others, have ensured that (from almost nothing) an effective library is available to the University's theological students. Thank God today for the Christian commitment of the University staff and for the energy and wisdom of Australian missionaries Neville and Elspeth Carr. Continue to pray too for the Msalato Theological College and Kagera Technical and Christian Training Centre.";
dataSet[dataSet.length] = "Your Church: Does it support the work of this Society? Please encourage your congregation to do so. Do you encourage your leaders? Pray for them today, as you praise God for those who originally pointed you to Jesus, and encouraged your Christian growth (by suggesting helpful books perhaps?).";
